New Books

While sticking with the topic of critical thinking, i have decided to find some new reading material. At first i was centralized in the self help section, skimming through readings on how to try and achieve enlightenment, peace, and lasting Joy. I bought a book called "The Power Of Now A guide to spiritual Enlightenment" by: Eckhart Tolle. I will post a review on it later. Also, while perusing the Non-Fiction section, i found myself interested in biographies. What makes great people as such? I'm not talking about ass-hats like Russel Brand or sports figures like Alex Rodriguez. I believe it is important to know how people like Thomas Jefferson, Napoleon Bonaparte, Franklin Roosevelt, Robert E.Lee. People with the influence to shape a nation. If anyone has any recommendations on some non fiction books to help better yourself, let me know.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS Four nations are contributing troops to track down Joseph Kony The United States is supporting the mission A video that went viral raised Kony's profile The notorious warlord is wanted for war crimes (CNN) -- The African Union plans to deploy 5,000 troops to hunt down Joseph Kony, the notorious leader of the Lord's Resistance Army who is wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court. Uganda, the Central African Republic, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo will supply soldiers for the mission, said Francisco Madeira, the African Union's special envoy on the LRA. He said the mission has support from the United States and 100 combat-ready troops the Pentagon sent to the region in October will assist. Kony and the LRA have been terrorizing Uganda and now, neighboring nations, for more than two decades. He is accused of using vicious tactics to recruit children to use them as soldiers and sex slaves and of slicing off ears, noses and limbs of his victims. Villagers in Uganda watch 'Kony 2012' Acaye from 'Kony 2012' shares journey LRA victim opposes 'Kony 2012' There are reports of child soldiers brainwashed into killing their own parents. A celebrity-backed video that went viral helped make Kony's alleged crimes more widely known. Invisible Children produced the "KONY 2012" half-hour documentary, viewed more than 84 million times on YouTube. But in introducing Kony to many for the first time, the video also spurred a flurry of questions about Invisible Children's intentions, its transparency and whether the social-media frenzy was too little, too late. Kony formed the LRA in an attempt to overthrow the government of Uganda. When that failed and the LRA was pushed out of Uganda in 2006, Kony began moving around in neighboring countries. Abou Moussa, a special U.N. envoy for central Africa, said there is enough information to believe Kony may be in Central African Republic. It's also believed the LRA soldiers range between 200 and 700 in number. "I don't think that's the most important thing," Moussa said. "The most important thing is how little they may be, they still constitute a danger to the environment. So they continue to attack, they continue to create havoc." CNN's Joseph Netto, Moni Basu and Faith Karimi contributed to this report.

Getting hurt at work

I got hurt at work about 3 months ago and still have not received treatment for my injury. Due to mix ups of reports and possible procrastination of my company and their insurance, i have had to prolong my pain for a little while. For future reference, and just to make sure this does not happen to you, here is a few tips so that you do not have to endure the same fate. First once you get hurt, Immediately notify a superior and file an accident report. Look over the report and make sure for inconsistencies and make sure all the dates are correct. Make sure the report is in writing and get a copy of the report from your employer and do not leave until you do. This will make sure your treatment is expedited.

12 angry men

Man 1:  Moderator
Man 2 At the start of the introductions, he bases his guilty verdict on solely on the presence of a witness. Not questioning the credibility of the witness at all. Bias at the start of the trial, he believes that it is all a waste of time and money to have a trial go on as long as it did and thinks the sentence should be handed out before a trial begins. He lets his emotions get to him

Man3: Repeats the facts heard in the trial. He basis his guilty on the supposed series of events that took place according to a neighbor and a coroner report. Vey strict on child decipline and believes the defendant wasn’t raised the right way.

Man4: Best case so far. He points out that the alibi doesnt add up, and it conflicts with the neighbor report. He is wrong to think that children from slum backgrounds are menaces to society

Man5: Rethinking his guess, he says he comes from the slums and he turned out well.He changes his verdict not guilty because of the prejiduce of the other men
Man6: He goes on about the fact of a strong motive yet when he recounts it, the story seems to be flimsy. Going on the neighbor witness who didn’t observe anything other than shouting through a wall is not a strong case
Man7: The baseball man doesn’t care. He wants to get out of the room so
Man8 Has the only innocent opinion. Discounts the credibility of the 2 “witnesses” and found it possible to buy a similar knife in the same area in where the boy lives. He also disproves the testimony of the witnesses
Man9: Shows sympathy to man 8 and changes his vote to not guilty. He is an old man and sids with the not guilty verdict and tries to disprove the old man witness.
Man10He is sick and is obviously affecting him and causing him to expedite his thinking. He has a short temper and is prejudice against the defendants race.
Man11: He made notes and tries to rationalize the facts, and seems to be on the fence
Man12: He isn’t focused on the problem at hand. Too preoccupied with his personal work.
